Description of works

The top down construction technique adopted in this special project enabled the limitation of temporary invasive works external to the building, necessary for the maintenance of the ancient masonry paraments that were subject to consolidation and renovation under the supervision of the Superintendency of Architectural Heritage of Rome. The dominating element of the project was constituted by the steel and glass “lantern” which, with about 3,200 m2 of surface area, crosses all the floors of the building, coming to the surface on the roof and providing a transparent value up to 7.5 metres tall below which the restaurant area is located with a 360° view of the city of Rome.
