Description of works

The philosophy that inspired the detached villa, partially underground, designed by Tadao Ando, seeks coordination between the interior space and the environmental setting. Two of the three floors of the house are hidden by green embankments; thanks to the large windows overlooking two amphitheatres located below ground level, the third lightens and illuminates the inside of this house. The construction, made of concrete and glass, occupies little more than 2000 m2, and seems to be immersed between the little hills built into the landscape and the dense array of trees, planted so as to form a protective curtain. This is why Ando called it the “invisible house”
